CCTV Surveys

Kilbride Environmental Services carries out remotely controlled Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveys in preference to man entry surveys. They provide a safe view and analysis of the pipe condition and identify any defects. The CCTV surveys are carried out by using remote controlled tractor units which carry the camera units.

On completion of a survey, a report containing information on the pipes surveyed is submitted to the client. This is prepared by experienced operatives working to industry standards and contains a major defect summary and sewer grading report together with footage from the survey.

Regular inspection of pipelines and manholes is the main method of ensuring a wastewater system runs efficiently. Inspection crews check the integrity of manholes and look for indications of pipeline problems such as slow flowing mains, evidence of structural deterioration or the presence of grease, roots or debris.

If a pipeline shows evidence of structural deterioration, or if the extent of potential problems cannot be determined by a physical inspection, a video inspection may be needed. Based on the findings of the video inspection a decision is made to clean or repair the pipeline. Once the work is complete, a CCTV Survey is used again to ensure the pipeline has been returned to working order.

Sewer, Drain & Interceptor Cleaning

Sewer & Drain Cleaning: Before a sewer or surface water pipe is put in the ground a team of specialists work out the diameter and gradient of the pipe after considering factors such as the type of effluent, area catchments, storm flows and so on. If these pipes can’t perform to design performance due to blockages or sedimentation it can cause the system to overflow. This commonly results in flooding, environmental and health problems.

At Kilbride Environmental Services, we have the best sewer and drain cleaning equipment currently available. With the knowledge and expertise of our management team we can provide a safe, efficient and cost effective solution to most problems.

Interceptors: Interceptors have to be cleaned regularly to ensure efficient service. By design they are full of liquid. It is essential to remove the debris from the tank and leave the Interceptor fully functional.

Gully Emptying & Slot Drainage Cleaning

Motorway Drainage Cleaning: It is essential that Motorway Drainage remains functional. Excessive surface water on the road surfaces can be extremely dangerous. Expensive and disruptive lane closures are required to carry out this essential maintenance.

By using Water Recycling Sewer Cleaning Machines Kilbride can achieve major efficiency benefits for the Client.

  1. Continuous cleaning of the drainage system with no time lost leaving site to refill with water, as is the case with conventional jetting units
  2. Superior performance. The recyclers can reduce the programme by as much as 80%
  3. Reduced disposal costs by water reduction
  4. Vehicle safety vision system incorporated with rear view cameras

Slot Drain Cleaning: From Airport runways to car parks slot drains play a vital role in conducting water quickly from large flat areas. It is essential to adopt the correct methods for cleaning these slot drains in order to prevent the spray contaminating the surrounding areas. We have specially trained crews that are aware of the risk when carrying out this process.

Gully Maintenance: It is essential to keep the drainage system of carriageways active. Gullies are the access points for the water to enter the drainage system and should be emptied "at least" annually. Kilbride have several gully cleaning units of various sizes enabling access even in the most remote locations.

High Pressure Jetting

Water Jetting

Water jetting is one of the cleanest and most cost effective techniques for a variety of applications ranging from root cutting, drain and sewer cleaning, tube bundle cleaning and vessel de-scaling.

The advantages of water jetting over other cleaning methods (such as rodding) are rather than just disturbing the sediment the water jets at pressures of up to 2000psi. This blasts loose the source of the blockage. by breaking up fat, grease and other deposits into smaller parts.

Tank Cleaning and Waste Removal

The removal and subsequent disposal of material is one of the most varied services offered by Kilbride. Examples, Kilbride can remove waste from include:

  • Deep Wet Wells
  • Sludge Digesters
  • Sedimentation Tanks
  • Water Filtration Tanks

Attention to Health and Safety Issues on projects like these is paramount. A detailed Assessment of Risk is the initial step. From this a Safe System of Work is developed to produce a project specific Method. Kilbride has specialist plant which can lift, using suction, bricks vertically 50 meters and has been used to draw dolomite 110 meters horizontally out of a watercourse. This type of plant is ideal for emptying and cleaning large tanks and wet wells.

Septic Tanks: Often thought of as the poor relation to properties with main sewer connections the Septic Tank is in fact a highly efficient “mini sewage works” using bacteria to break down the waste just like its far bigger brother. Just like the large sewage works it requires proper maintenance. Silt and sludge can impair the performance of the process and it is important to remove this but keep the bacteria.

At Kilbride we have a complete range of plant as well as the expertise to properly maintain these tanks irrespective of size or distance from hard standing access.

Drain Tracing

One of the main problems when dealing with drains can be actually locating them and tracing where they run to under the ground. The difficulty in obtaining information about buried drains is that nothing is visible. Drawings, plans or information can be obtained but very often they are not accurate or are incomplete.

This occurs frequently on sites where the drainage system has been altered and been added to over the years. The Diagram shows that by using a specific digital locator we can detect and trace the drain precisely. The sound which emits the frequency can also be used tandem with a video camera to enable visual inspection.

Dye Testing: Dye testing is a method for detecting and confirming drain lines. A dye test can be performed simply by releasing a dye (either pellet or powder), into the drainage system.
